Summer Work Sessions Scheduled

We need to get a few things done before the school year actually starts, and some of those things we need to do in person. So, here are the dates I have in mind:

  • Aug. 11 (Tuesday), Aug. 13 (Thursday), Aug. 18 (Tuesday)
  • 12-3 PM

  • Meet in the Journalism Room (#233)

We can also meet Aug. 19 (Wednesday) if we feel we have more to do. Here's what we need to accomplish before school starts:

  • Yearbook, theme

  • Yearbook, cover & endsheets design

  • Yearbook, ladder

  • Yearbook, assign early-in-school-year spreads

  • Newspaper, design considerations

  • Newspaper, first issue stories and photography
We can't afford to show up the first day of school without addressing the issues above, so make room in your schedule to attend all or some of the days listed above.

Yearbook Theme

The first issue to address is our yearbook theme, which begs the question: do you know what a yearbook theme is?

I suggest you read this article to familiarize or refresh your understanding of yearbook themes. You can also look at this list of examples.

Here is your assignment, due by August 10: List at least three sincere theme ideas as a comment under this post.

Feel free to engage each other in discussion as people start sharing their ideas.
